A Living Room Built for Real Family Life

This is the living room in our own home on Chichester Harbour, recently given a gentle refresh with new artwork, generous indoor plants and a beautifully styled coffee table tray. It's genuinely one of our favourite rooms to spend time in, helped along by a striking two-sided fireplace that comes into its own once the evenings start drawing in. Soft coastal tones and layered natural textures keep the space feeling relaxed rather than formal, designed to be properly lived in rather than simply admired from the doorway. Unsurprisingly, the family dog agrees — so much for the "no dogs on the sofa" rule, which didn't last very long at all. It's a lovely reminder that a beautiful room and a genuinely comfortable one don't have to be different things.
